We rely on our dedicated volunteers to help pull together actions and events to beautify Manukau. Volunteers not only make a difference to the Trust but also to the environment and communities they serve. The work of volunteers never goes unnoticed.
Sign up to volunteer today! We'll include your name on our database and get in touch when we need help with projects in your area.
You can also help us by volunteering with any of the following:
We host and support environmental education and community events which need the support of volunteers.
One of our biggest events is Eye on Nature held yearly in April at the Auckland Botanic Gardens.
In 2015 we welcomed 10,000 visitors to the event. We rely heavily on a large crew of volunteers to help us run games, assist with children's crafts, direct visitors and orchestrate our live entertainment and wearable arts shows.
This year our Eye On Nature free family day will be held on Saturday 9 April, and we would love your help! It's a fun day, and all volunteers will receive a t-shirt as thanks for their help.
If you'd like to help at Eye on Nature, please fill in our online volunteer registration form.
Another huge event we are running this year is the attempt to set the New Zealand record for the largest number of volunteers at a single environmental clean-up (find out all the info here). We need lots (and we mean LOTS!) of people to help us clean up the Puhinui Stream on 30 April 2016. If you'd like to help set a record, register here.
Our community shed for people aged 50+ is always keen to welcome new members. We also need experienced engineers, cabinetmakers, welders and other tradespeople to share their skills with others in our fully equipped workshop. If you'd like to be involved, please contact Anita Curlett, phone 09 269 4080.
ADOPT A SPOT
We have an ever increasing number of wonderful people who join our volunteer programme to "Adopt a Spot". They watch out for graffiti or tagging on fences and public places on a weekly basis and then report it into the Trust.
Past experience shows that the sooner graffiti and tagging is painted out the less likely it is to attract other tagging marks.
BUT WAIT - THERE ARE OTHER WAYS YOU CAN HELP!
You can support us by liking and sharing our social media posts, sharing information from this website and helping spread the Trust's mandate messages. Or how about sharing your stories about what you do to make Manukau and Auckland a beautiful place?
The more people we have educated and inspired to support the living and built environment, the better.
Please contact us at 09 269 4080 or email us for more information on volunteering.
