Chorus Competition

The Manukau Beautification Charitable Trust is proud to bring back the Chorus Cabinet Art Competition to South Auckland for the third time.

We’re seeking up and coming artists who live, work or study in South Auckland to beautify one of four selected Chorus Cabinets and get paid to do so.

This competition is a fantastic way to get your artwork seen and gain practical mural experience.

The theme for this competition focuses on ‘Nurturing our forests together’ which relates to our Eye on Nature 2018 event’s theme.

Selected cabinets are:

  • Corner Gibbons Road/Weymouth Rd, Weymouth
  • Near 329 Botany Road, Howick
  • Corner Valley Road/East Street, Pukekohe
  • Near 122 Walmsley Road, Mangere Bridge

Artists will be paid $1,000 (excl GST) per cabinet plus up to $100 will be provided for materials upon completion and sign off from Chorus.

Competition closes midnight Monday 23 October 2017.

To enter, please email your design and a short paragraph explaining how your design fits within its surroundings and the competition theme to Nicole Stanton on

Chorus is a wonderful partner to the Trust.

Their Art Initiative helps us achieve our mission and visions of beautifying Auckland.

“We have thousands of cabinets on New Zealand streets but unfortunately some present tempting targets for graffiti. Our cabinet art programme sees the most frequently hit cabinets turned into beautiful works of art.Started in 2010, our cabinet art project helps combat tagging on our cabinets and the mural concept has since gone from strength to strength. We're now working with local communities and councils to identify artists and suitable designs that are meaningful to and fit with the area.” - Chorus
